About Suki Michelle
After a childhood consumed by dedicated doodling, Suki studied drawing and painting at Kansas City Art Institute, earning a BFA. After graduating, she traveled the world to study Transcendental Meditation and taught the technique for years.
Suki also enjoys a creative outlet in the literary arts. In 2014, she won First Place in the Women on Writing Flash Fiction Competition. In 2016, she won First Place in the Faulkner Literary Competition, Poetry Division.
She works impulsively with underlying intent - throwing down colors and shapes then conferring with them to see what they want. Is it contrast, harmony, a statement, something absurd? Maybe she is simply expressing an emotion. At times, she abandons it all, only to return and finally understand the image wanting to emerge.
Suki always loved to paint and draw, and at the wise old age of 68, she has yet to become loyal to only one artistic style. She hopes you enjoy her varied expressions.
