A melding of the artist’s digital painting, original photography in a Chicago forest, and her vivid imagination imagination. This distinctly feminine image is both delicate and strong, the embodiment of nature. She is an ethereal creature standing by a tree, serene and a bit shy.
After a childhood consumed by dedicated doodling, Suki studied drawing and painting at Kansas City Art Institute, earning a BFA. After graduating, she traveled the world to study Transcendental Meditation and taught the technique for years. Suki also enjoys a creative outlet in the literary arts. In 2014, she won First Place in the Women on Writing Flash Fiction Competition. In 2016, she won First Place in the Faulkner Literary Competition, Poetry Division. She works impulsively with underlying intent - throwing down colors and shapes then conferring with them to see what they want. Is it contrast, harmony, a statement, something absurd? I love the title, which goes so well with the artwork. The tilt of the head, shadowed through multiple layers of color, coupled with the tree and flowers, I find it very appealing. Works wonderfully on the tote bag I ordered.
