Artist's Description

This image started out as a photograph of shadows. After manipulation and over-painting by hand, it emerged as an image that suggests confrontation and tension. It is ambiguous as to which shape is the aggressor, perhaps both. As with all abstract art, it is subject to interpretation, expressing mood.

About Suki Michelle

Suki Michelle

After a childhood consumed by dedicated doodling, Suki studied drawing and painting at Kansas City Art Institute, earning a BFA. After graduating, she traveled the world to study Transcendental Meditation and taught the technique for years. Suki also enjoys a creative outlet in the literary arts. In 2014, she won First Place in the Women on Writing Flash Fiction Competition. In 2016, she won First Place in the Faulkner Literary Competition, Poetry Division. She works impulsively with underlying intent - throwing down colors and shapes then conferring with them to see what they want. Is it contrast, harmony, a statement, something absurd? Maybe she’s just expressing an emotion. At times, she abandons it all, only to return and...
