Chicago is rich, touch is circumstantial, accidental. There is always the pulsation of life, however strange it may seem. The figures are skeletal, hair on end, and yet somehow they connect. It’s less a statement piece, more a flight of fancy.
After a childhood consumed by dedicated doodling, Suki studied drawing and painting at Kansas City Art Institute, earning a BFA. After graduating, she traveled the world to study Transcendental Meditation and taught the technique for years. Suki also enjoys a creative outlet in the literary arts. In 2014, she won First Place in the Women on Writing Flash Fiction Competition. In 2016, she won First Place in the Faulkner Literary Competition, Poetry Division. She works impulsively with underlying intent - throwing down colors and shapes then conferring with them to see what they want. Is it contrast, harmony, a statement, something absurd?
