The darkness suggests the quiet potential for light and color, in this image and in life. The subtle floral and leaf shapes create a balanced and calming composition. This was painted by hand on a blank digital canvas using a variety of watercolor brushes and ink. A photo of a leaf was carefully incorporated to provide the infrastructure for the image.

After a childhood consumed by dedicated doodling, Suki studied drawing and painting at Kansas City Art Institute, earning a BFA. After graduating, she traveled the world to study Transcendental Meditation and taught the technique for years. Suki also enjoys a creative outlet in the literary arts. In 2014, she won First Place in the Women on Writing Flash Fiction Competition. In 2016, she won First Place in the Faulkner Literary Competition, Poetry Division.
