Artist's Description
While admiring a garden filled with purple irises, a flutter caught my eye. When I looked, this rare creature froze for a split moment then tiptoed quickly away. I didn’t try to find her again, knowing that such an experience can happen only once in a lifetime and only if you’re very very lucky. No one believes me, but I proved it by drawing her exactly as she was.
About Suki Michelle
After a childhood consumed by dedicated doodling, Suki studied drawing and painting at Kansas City Art Institute, earning a BFA. After graduating, she traveled the world to study Transcendental Meditation and taught the technique for years. Suki also enjoys a creative outlet in the literary arts. In 2014, she won First Place in the Women on Writing Flash Fiction Competition. In 2016, she won First Place in the Faulkner Literary Competition, Poetry Division. She works impulsively with underlying intent - throwing down colors and shapes then conferring with them to see what they want. Is it contrast, harmony, a statement, something absurd?
