The artist worked for days trying to coax a compelling picture from a digital canvas. Various brushes were used, a vivid palette, lots of doing, redoing, layering and doing again, as frustration built. Then an idea began to glimmer in the early morning and at last the sunlight of an idea peeked out.
After a childhood consumed by dedicated doodling, Suki studied drawing and painting at Kansas City Art Institute, earning a BFA. After graduating, she traveled the world to study Transcendental Meditation and taught the technique for years. Suki also enjoys a creative outlet in the literary arts. In 2014, she won First Place in the Women on Writing Flash Fiction Competition. In 2016, she won First Place in the Faulkner Literary Competition, Poetry Division. She works impulsively with underlying intent - throwing down colors and shapes then conferring with them to see what they want. Is it contrast, harmony, a statement, something absurd?
