About Suki Michelle
After a childhood consumed by dedicated doodling, Suki studied drawing and painting at Kansas City Art Institute, earning a BFA. After graduating, she traveled the world to study Transcendental Meditation and taught the technique for years. Suki also enjoys a creative outlet in the literary arts. In 2014, she won First Place in the Women on Writing Flash Fiction Competition. In 2016, she won First Place in the Faulkner Literary Competition, Poetry Division. She works impulsively with underlying intent - throwing down colors and shapes then conferring with them to see what they want. Is it contrast, harmony, a statement, something absurd? Beautiful color palette as always Suki. My initial interpretation: An interaction between two individuals, possibly women, on a topical island and they are wearing grass skirts. The atmosphere looks like a Gauguin painting. The figure left, whilst in mid sentence, is about to get smacked by the figure on the right. Then again, the figure on the right might just be carrying a pineapple on their back to the house warming party that the figure on the left is giving. Interesting exercise. I could probably go on.
Suki Michelle replied:
James, this is so gratifying. I’ll take Gaugin!! I love this interpretation. Thank you!
