Artist's Description
This began as a hand-drawn portrait of a beautiful female face on a blank digital canvas using various brushes and a subtle palette. A closeup photograph of a delicate leaf, which the artist saw as resembling a dragonfly wing, was layered in and painstakingly melded with the portrait using digital photobashing techniques and fine ink drawing. After many hours, this image emerged and was felt to be complete. It is a delicate image with a touch of magic.
About Suki Michelle
After a childhood consumed by dedicated doodling, Suki studied drawing and painting at Kansas City Art Institute, earning a BFA. After graduating, she traveled the world to study Transcendental Meditation and taught the technique for years. Suki also enjoys a creative outlet in the literary arts. In 2014, she won First Place in the Women on Writing Flash Fiction Competition. In 2016, she won First Place in the Faulkner Literary Competition, Poetry Division. She works impulsively with underlying intent - throwing down colors and shapes then conferring with them to see what they want. Is it contrast, harmony, a statement, something absurd?
