All possibilities spring from baby's first breath as she reaches for her mother. This image was first drawn and developed with Prismacolor pencils, then photographed and enhanced using Procreate digital watercolor and gouache brushes. It represents the notion that the infant is the pure symbol of potentiality. The endless cycle of life after life is a Buddhist theme, represented abstractly here. The flowers represent nature, and the one in mother’s hair is a lotus. Limited edition of 10 images.
After a childhood consumed by dedicated doodling, Suki studied drawing and painting at Kansas City Art Institute, earning a BFA. After graduating, she traveled the world to study Transcendental Meditation and taught the technique for years. Suki also enjoys a creative outlet in the literary arts. In 2014, she won First Place in the Women on Writing Flash Fiction Competition. In 2016, she won First Place in the Faulkner Literary Competition, Poetry Division. She works impulsively with underlying intent - throwing down colors and shapes then conferring with them to see what they want. Is it contrast, harmony, a statement, something absurd?
